The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Utility Plant Operator at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill to keep essential operations running. This role leverages mechanical talent to support a secure and well-run facility.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• You must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.

Responsabilités

• Boiler Operation: Maintain steady boiler performance and evaluate gauges, meters, and system indicators
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine upkeep, cleaning, and minor repairs on plant machinery
• Water Testing: Conduct water chemistry tests, as well as track needed supplies and chemical levels
• Facility Upkeep: Carry out general housekeeping and complete daily inventories
• Inmate Oversight: Guide inmate workers, monitor activity, and enforce safety and security practices
• Record Management: Communicate with supervisors and complete required logs, paperwork, and reports

Duties

• Boiler Operation: Maintain steady boiler performance and evaluate gauges, meters, and system indicators

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
• Work hours are as follows, with rotating shifts and days off, and a paid lunch.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
