Job summary

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) in Maryland seeks a mid-level manager to lead the Maryland Correctional Transportation Unit. You will direct operations and personnel, organize inmate transfers, and ensure field compliance across the Baltimore region.

Responsibilities include staffing court details, monitoring attendance, and performing routine inspections. The role requires leadership, discipline, and adherence to state regulations to maintain safe inmate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required as described by Maryland standards.
• Two years of experience supervising correctional officers in custody and security of adult inmates.
• Background standards and training requirements must be met as per Maryland Correctional Training Commission.

Responsibilities

• Provide mid-level managerial direction of correctional staff within the Maryland Correctional Transportation Unit.
• Oversee daily transportation operations in the Baltimore Region and coordinate inmate transfers.
• Review time cards daily to ensure compliance with attendance rules and report overtime expenditures.
• Assess reported problems and initiate corrective actions.
• Conduct field rounds at jails and courthouses to ensure staff performance per regulations.
• Perform uniform inspections and address discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain staff unit files and perform additional duties as directed.
