Job summary

East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS is seeking a Training Coordinator to oversee correctional officer certification training and non-security staff pre-service programs, ensuring alignment with ACA, MTC, and MDOC directives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with 4 years in an adult correctional setting, including supervisory experience, and strong communication skills. On-site work with opportunities for professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or related field; four years’ experience in adult correctional environment or related field.
• One year of supervisory experience is required or can be substituted per MDOC approvals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; valid Mississippi driver’s license with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate correctional officer certification training for new hires in compliance with MDOC and ACA standards.
• Plan and conduct pre-service training for non-security staff per MDOC directives.
• Develop programs to meet ACA accreditation and MDOC requirements.
• Establish periodic review of training programs, both pre-service and in-service.
• Maintain accurate records of training and certifications in files and electronic systems.
• Develop the departmental budget and monitor expenditures; recommend budget changes.
• Ensure regular on-site attendance and accountability of staff and property.
• Provide feedback to staff on social skills, procedures, and intervention techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
