Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Stores Clerk at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, IN to manage commissary stocking, disbursement, and control of goods for incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities include transporting supplies from the warehouse to the commissary and supervising inmates assisting with these tasks.

The role requires knowledge of requisitioning, inventory records, and stock rotation; a degree is not required but relevant experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of requisitioning, disbursing procedures and inventory control.
• Knowledge of stock locations and proper storage methods.
• Experience with handling perishables per regulations.
• Ability to train inmates and staff on equipment and storage.
• Ability to maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records.
• Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Authorize the accuracy of all orders in the storeroom and goods received.
• Contact vendors regarding partial shipments or misorders.
• Maintain detailed inventory records and ordering logs.
• Evaluate storage procedures and optimize procedures as needed.
• Ensure proper perishable item storage and stock rotation.
• Recommend purchases of new warehouse equipment.
• Oversee and assemble equipment received in working condition.
• May ensure security of incarcerated individuals and staff in warehouse.
