Job summary

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Three years in a criminal justice field, including two years in supervision.
Additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Completion of basic pre-service correctional officer training; may require commissioned security officer license.
Valid driver's license required.
Knowledge of correctional facility management, laws, rules, and supervision/training practices.
Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise security staff and inmates/residents on the shift.
Ensure adequate staffing and fill gaps during shortages.
Participate in recruiting, hiring, and orientation of staff on supervised shifts.
Make recommendations on personnel matters and assist facility resources management.
