Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates and manages housing areas according to risk level.
• Transports inmates using approved restraints and follows laws and procedures.
• Conducts head counts and maintains custody outside secured areas and escorts inside.
• Performs crisis intervention and may use force per policy.
• Maintains facility security, conducts searches, and inspects for contraband.
• Directs officers in supervision of inmates and reporting.
