Job summary

The State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections is recruiting a Corrections Sentencing Associate at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun. This role handles admissions, detainers, and complex sentence computations for inmates, including those housed out of state, while ensuring compliance with statutes and codes.

The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Corrections Sentencing Associate position at either the entry or Senior level, located at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the following: Records Office admission process, release of inmates, service of detainers and inmates housed out of state to include Concurrent-Out-Of-State (CCOS), Interstate Corrections Compact (ICC) and Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). This includes coordinating and effectively processing all admissions, including violators, to the Dodge Correctional Institution, (DCI), the reception center for nearly all male inmates in the Department of Corrections, (DOC) and inmates housed out of state to include CCOS, ICC and IGA) This position has responsibility for meeting all legal requirements regarding inmate admission records, and requires an extensive working knowledge of the Statutes, Administrative Code, and changes, as well as court decisions and their proper implication concerning admissions and releases, incarceration, and sentencing computations to ensure the lawful commitment and release of inmates.

Salary Information

The Corrections Sentencing Associate is position is in pay schedule and range 02-12 with a starting pay of $27.08/hour and the Senior level is in pay schedule and range 02-14 with a starting pay of $31.65/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

This position is eligible for remote work up to 1 day per week after completion of the probationary period.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

Performing mathematical calculations for specific work – related programs (e.g. budget preparation, account,offender sentence computations, etc.).

• Utilizing computer programs (such as: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Google sheets, Doc, etc.) for creating, updating, and maintain documents and databases.

Maintaining, analyzing, and auditing of files according to established policies/procedures/statutes, etc

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:

Interpreting and applying policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Working with legal documents such as judgments of conviction, revocation orders, warrants, etc.

Corresponding with external stakeholders (such as law enforcement agencies, legal aid societies, attorneys, etc.

Well-qualified candidates may be eligible to be hired at the Senior level.
