Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN-F/C at Suwannee Correctional Institution in the Classification Department. The role focuses on reviewing sentencing documents, updating release dates, and ensuring correct sentence details in OBIS.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess two years of experience at Florida Department of Corrections.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• If a college/university degree is submitted, official transcripts will be required.
• Background screening requires Level 2 background check as per Florida Statutes.

Responsibilities

• Review commitment documents to understand sentencing rules, update sentence information, and ensure release dates are correct.
• Collaborate with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Court Clerks to correct mistakes in commitment documents and clarify sentences.
• Search the inmate information system to fix errors in inmate IDs and ensure correct sentence details in OBIS.
• Assess new commitments after intake to decide on inmate numbers and recalculate release dates; notify Central Office of updates.
• Document post-release supervision violations and assist in updating policies and procedures related to sentence structure.
