State of South Carolina is seeking a Security Supervisor to plan, coordinate and direct security staff in a medium security facility, ensuring custody and control of inmates, building security, and property protection. The position requires a high school diploma with three years of related experience and at least one year in supervision; completion of SCDC Training Academy basics within six months is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and three years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work with one year of supervisory experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsabilités

• Plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium security facility.
• Assumes primary responsibility for security of all buildings and public property.
• Makes routine checks of the unit(s) to ensure subordinate staff perform duties properly and safely, and that OSHA standards are maintained.
• Assists with all inmates counts for accuracy.
• Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
