Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience.
• High diploma with 10 years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, including 5 years supervisory experience.
• Certification by the SCDC training academy and completion of the basic supervisory course within 6 months of entry.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, directs, and manages the employment and duty activities of a security shift in a level two facility.
• Supervises, inspects, and enforces perimeter and internal security controls.
• Prepares, submits, and monitors reports for the chain of command and policy.
• Directs security resources for optimal safety and security.
• Ensures institutional buildings and state property are secured.
• Trains, develops, counsels, and evaluates subordinates for proper duty performance.
• Controls weapons, keys, security devices and agency equipment.
• Inspects posts where shift employees are deployed.
• Interviews and counsels inmates as necessary to ensure safety and security.
