Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must complete and pass Jail Academy Exam.
• Certified in first aid, CPR and AED.
• Must possess/maintain an active telephone.
• Must pass a police background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record check and physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for inmates at the Jackson County Detention Center in accordance with department procedures.
• Assist in various posts, areas, and shifts as needed.
• Overtime may be required for staffing shortages or emergencies.
• Process new inmates, verify documents, search for contraband, assess health and safety, inventory personal property, and escort inmates through intake.
