Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Department of Corrections. As a Corrections Nurse, you will provide advanced nursing care to inmates, collaborate with medical staff, and support health programs.

This full-time role is 40 hours per week with rotating shifts and retirement benefits. You must hold a PA RN license (or obtain within required timeframe) and pass background checks. Telework is not available, and strong record-keeping is essential.

Qualifications

• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Must show proof of current PA RN license or PA temporary practice permit.
• Ability to perform essential job functions and pass background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced professional nursing care to inmates.
• Support individuals with physical or mental health needs.
• Assist physicians with examinations, administer tests and immunizations, and provide counseling.
• Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record, prepare reports, and maintain documentation.
• Sterilize instruments, inventory supplies, and manage treatment area stock.
