Job summary

Bureau of Prisons / Federal Prison System is seeking Corrections professionals to maintain a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Qualifications emphasize specialized experience in mailroom, receiving/discharge, inmate transfers, security procedures, and releases. A medical fitness requirement applies due to the demanding nature of the work.

Qualifications

• No substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
• Experience in mailroom operations, receiving and discharge, prisoner transfers, security procedures, bus movement, final releases.

Responsibilities

• Experience coordinating exchanges of custody with federal and non-federal agencies.
• Experience supervising large groups of inmates in preparation for bus or airlift operations.
• Experience releasing inmates who have completed federal sentences with proper identification and release paperwork.
