Job summary

Strafford County is seeking a Correctional Officer to supervise inmates and individuals under departmental control. You will follow federal, state, and local laws, report on time in uniform, and enforce procedures while instructing inmates and conducting searches.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to supervise others and follow orders promptly.
• Willing to work all shifts and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of inmates and others under departmental control.
• Follow all federal, state and local laws.
• Maintain proper uniform and report for duty on time.
• Instruct and supervise inmates; enforce procedures.
• Conduct searches and use metal detectors when needed.
• Maintain logs, pass-on messages, and housekeeping of area.
• Enforce inmate rules and protect due process rights.
