Job summary

The National Police is seeking a Correctional Officer to serve at Rice County Jail in Minnesota. You will help maintain a safe, secure environment for detainees and assist the public with various services while ensuring accurate record-keeping.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with training within a year and six months of related experience; a valid driver's license is required. A rotating 24/7 shift is part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with up to one year of postsecondary training and six months related experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Associate’s degree in law enforcement or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and safety of detainees per policies.
• Keep a detailed jail log electronically of detainee activities and appointments.
• Maintain shift communication log and record fees and monies.
• Communicate with courts, probation officers, social workers, lawyers, and detainees.
• Possess working knowledge of necessary computer software programs.
• Monitor compliance of work release detainees.
• Perform Intake, Central Control, Internal Movement, and Housing duties daily.
• Assist the public with services.
• Transport detainees to court and medical appointments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
