Job summary

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office is seeking dedicated individuals to join our correctional team at the Carlton County Jail in Minnesota. You will monitor inmates, maintain security, and ensure safety for staff and the community, with a focus on professional conduct and de-escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years post-secondary education preferred; Corrections/Law Enforcement education preferred.
• Two years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and safety of inmates and staff at the Carlton County Jail.
• Oversee inmates during job assignments, meals, recreation, and visiting to ensure security and safety.
• Search and observe inmates, living quarters, and work areas for contraband or weapons.
• Log shift activities, incidents, and write reports describing incidents and disciplinary actions.
• Administer first aid and CPR when necessary, and distribute medicines per medical personnel orders.
• Respond to emergencies and enforce safety rules and policies.
