Qualifications

• Knowledge of inmate care, custody and control principles.
• Ability to apply laws and department regulations in a corrections setting.
• Good communication and observation skills.
• Ability to handle firearms per department regulations.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process inmates; maintain security and safety.
• Input and maintain incident and inmate records to meet requirements.
• Escort inmates to court, hospital or other facilities.
• Coordinate court appearances and document handling.
• Operate control room; monitor surveillance and inmate movement.
• Search inmates and facility for contraband; maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Oversee transfer and distribution of supplies; supervise staff as required.
• Prepare and submit reports on inmate population and functions.
• Provide meals and basic medical aid; summon medical attention when needed.
• Enforce jail regulations and participate in disciplinary actions.
• Respond to inquiries from inmates, staff, and public; provide information.
