Job summary

Wyoming Department of Corrections seeks entry-level Correctional Officers for the Medium Security Institution in Torrington, Wyoming. You will help maintain safety and security, supervise inmates, conduct counts, and respond to post orders.

Successful applicants are eligible for POST certification within one year, receive extensive training, and gain access to a broad benefits package including health, retirement, paid leave, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Must pass a background check, medical and psychological evaluation.
• Must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, with a valid driver's license.
• No felony or domestic violence conviction; post-appointment drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and regulations to maintain safety.
• Respond to post orders and supervise inmates at posts.
• Assist in searches for contraband and monitor living areas.
• Conduct daily inmate counts and manage inmate movements.
• Assist in transporting inmates and in processing new/ exiting inmates.
• Attend required training and maintain commitment to safety standards.
