THE POSITION

The Corrections Officer 3 position with the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette offers an exciting chance to lead and motivate staff in a dynamic correctional environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supervising staff and overseeing daily operations to support the orderly functioning of the institution. As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Supervision: Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Operational Coordination: Organize schedules and plan inmate movements to maintain controlled daily operations
• Unit Monitoring: Inspect housing areas, observe inmate behavior, and respond to concerns to support stability
• Transport Oversight: Manage inmate transports, process new commitments, and supervise vehicle and visitor inspections
• Policy Compliance: Conduct investigations, issue discipline, and participate in grievance reviews to uphold standards
• Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies with steady judgment to support intervention and prevention

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours will be determined. You will have rotating days off.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
• Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
