Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a detached duty Basic Training instructor for the Department of Corrections Training Academy. This role serves as the primary instructor for Department, County and Contract Staff attending the Basic Training course, with selection per the PSCOA Local Agreement.

Hours are standard weekdays, and security duties are included. Open to current DOC employees; housing may be available at academy rates.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Corrections Officer Trainee Program; or one year of experience in corrections security work.
• Eligible for selection in accordance with Merit System Employment Regulations; PA Residency is waived.
• Must hold or have held regular civil service status as Corrections Officer 1.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate and instruct various courses at institutions, county facilities and Training Academy.
• Ensure safety and correct procedures during hands-on training (EID/OC, AMAC, Baton, etc.).
• Complete and maintain instructor certifications.
• Provide input for curriculum updates.
• Act as Basic Training Group Leader (roll call, performance assessments, inspections).
• Serve as first point of contact in cadets’ chain of command; conduct coaching sessions as needed.
• Perform security duties including supervision, counts, searches and offender transport.
• Conduct fire, safety, and security inspections and prepare work orders.
