Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing seeks a Nurse Practitioner for a correctional travel assignment. The NP will perform physical examinations, diagnostic testing, assessments, and prescribe medications within licensure.

Inmates will receive education on health prevention, medical conditions, and treatment, in alignment with state regulations. The role requires NP certification and state licensure, preferred correctional experience, and adherence to professional standards.

Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner Certification and license in the state of practice.
• Certification by a nationally accredited nursing organization (e.g. AANP, ANCC) is preferred
• One year experience as an NP preferred
• One year of correctional experience preferred
• Maintain collaboration agreements per state requirements
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate per contract or state regulation
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• The Nurse Practitioner provides health care services to incarcerated individuals within the scope of their license, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing, assessments/health screenings, prescribing medications, and inmate education on health prevention and treatment.

Job description

The Nurse Practitioner in the correctional setting provideshealth care services to incarcerated individuals within the scope of theirlicense.
