Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring an entry-level Maintenance Worker to perform painting, carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical repairs across a secure facility. You will use basic hand tools and may oversee offender workers, under supervision from a designated supervisor.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position performing basic manual maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, reach, and climb a ladder, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and safety practices of maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance: painting building surfaces and equipment; patch plastering walls; carpentry work on furniture, doors, windows, shelves and floors; plumbing repairs; replace faucets/valves; repair leaks; replace light bulbs/outlets/switches; and limited repairs of electrical motors/generators/communication equipment.
• Supervise offender workers engaged in related activities under supervision from a designated supervisor.
