Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an entry-level maintenance worker to support facility upkeep and basic repairs across a maximum-security setting. The role involves painting, carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical work, with on‑the‑job training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with 1+ year experience or completion of a relevant technical training program.
• Position requires ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, reach and climb a ladder.
• Experience with basic hand tools and operating maintenance equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance including painting surfaces and equipment, patch plastering walls and carpentry work.
• Handle plumbing tasks such as unstopping toilets, replacing faucets and repairing water line leaks.
• Assist with limited repairs of electrical motors, generators and communication equipment and supervise offender workers as needed.
