Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hiring a Corrections Maintenance Foreman at the State Correctional Institution Phoenix. You will lead inmate work crews through hands-on maintenance tasks across the facility, guiding safety and quality every day.

You will supervise crews, plan daily work, teach equipment safety, manage tools, and support carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other trades while upholding strict security and discipline standards.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Background check and CJIS compliance required.

This position oversees inmate work crews performing hands-on maintenance tasks throughout the facility. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision: Direct inmate work crews completing routine construction, maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping tasks
• Work Planning: Assign daily schedules, monitor progress, and inspect completed assignments
• Equipment Instruction: Teach safe operation and preventative care for machinery and vehicles
• Tool Management: Issues and track tools and supplies; conduct searches to ensure everything is accounted for
• Skilled Trades Support: Assist maintenance staff with skilled and semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other trades
• Safety Oversight: Maintain order, discipline, and accountability during all work activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
