Job description

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Maintenance Foreman at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. This position gives you the opportunity to lead inmate work crews and support the daily upkeep of the facility. You will strengthen your leadership skills, oversee a wide range of maintenance tasks, and help maintain an efficient and dependable environment. This position leads inmate work crews and participates in a variety of maintenance tasks to support daily operations at SCI Mahanoy. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision: Oversee inmate work crews, plan daily schedules, inspect work assignments, and maintain order and discipline
• Maintenance Work: Perform or assist with carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, masonry, welding, and related trades
• Tool Control: Issue tools, inventory materials, and conduct searches to account for all items
• Supply Planning: Determine materials needed for tasks and submit purchase requests for supplies and tools
• Operational Support: Complete general maintenance tasks, provide instruction on equipment use, and carry out other assigned duties

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
