Job summary

As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will take on a leadership role that supports the secure and steady operation of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix. This position places you at the center of facility maintenance, where you supervise staff, coordinate repairs, and guide on‑job training programs. You will help maintain a safe environment by leading teams that understand security, follow procedures, and take pride in high‑quality work. This position focuses on supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and supporting the safe operation of the facility. It involves planning daily work, managing resources, and ensuring proper procedures are followed. As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Daily Planning: Organize work schedules, assign tasks, and prepare budgets that reflect facility goals
• Staff Oversight: Direct maintenance and trades employees, plan orientation and training sessions, and review performance
• Operational Reporting: Prepare inventories, track assignments, and maintain required records and documents
• Safety Compliance: Inspect work areas, check equipment, and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures
• Emergency Response: Act as Duty Officer, manage after‑hours issues, and address urgent facility needs
• Resource Management: Review requests for tools, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper justification and use

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or
• Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
