Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers in Virginia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for Greensville Correctional Center. The role delivers evidence-based nursing care, administers medications, and supports treatment plans under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, documentation, and collaboration with security staff. A valid Virginia LPN license and BLS are required; a sign-on bonus or student loan repayment may be available for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license or multi-state compact license.
• Working knowledge of practical/general nursing care.
• Ability to document, provide first aid, and carry out providers’ orders.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; administer nursing care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• LPN provides evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process under RN direction.
• Screens sick calls, administers medications, provides first aid and BLS as needed.
• Maintains communication with security and treatment staff for treatment plans.
• Records information in the medical record accurately.
• Promotes continued competence through education and certification.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Virginia LPN license or multi-state compact license

Working knowledge of nursing care principles

Ability to document, provide first aid, follow orders

Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
