Job summary

CorrHealth in Carlsbad, NM is seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to assist in delivering inmate care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care, and guiding inmate teaching.

The role requires graduation from an accredited LPN/LVN program, active LPN/LVN licensure in New Mexico, CPR/BLS certification, and TB testing within the past year. Work is 15 hours per month in a correctional health unit, with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN program.
• Current LPN/LVN licensure in the state of employment.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• TB test completed within the last 12 months.
• Ability to follow nursing process under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessment of inmates' physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Contribute to planning and implementing individual treatment programs.
• Administer medications per procedures, including IV therapy if certified.
• Support providers in evaluations and minor procedures using SOAP charting.
• Obtain specimens and perform EKGs.
• Maintain and document controlled substances and medical equipment.
• Triages and addresses healthcare requests.
