Job summary

The State of Missouri invites applications for a corrections role within the Missouri Department of Corrections. This position serves as assistant/relief shift supervisor in an adult facility or related units, overseeing Correctional Officers, directing operations, and supporting rehabilitation efforts.

Minimum qualifications include 3+ years custody experience in any accredited facility and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a facility (city, county, state or federal).
• One year must be as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• High school diploma or GED (military substitution allowed as noted).

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers; sets expectations and monitors performance.
• Directs major activities such as control center operation or reception/orientation.
• Patrols living quarters and grounds to observe offender behavior and staff performance.
• Investigates offender disturbances and administers disciplinary actions.
• Assists in staff training and adheres to established rules and regulations.
