Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an assistant/relief shift supervisor in an adult facility range. The role involves supervising officers, directing major operations, patrolling posts, and addressing offender behavior with an emphasis on rehabilitation and safety.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of custody experience in a correctional setting (city, county, state or federal).
• One year must be as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers, sets expectations and monitors performance.
• Directs a major activity such as control center operation or reception/orientation.
• Patrols living quarters, grounds, and buildings to observe offender behavior and ensure staff on duty.
• Investigates disturbances and maintains discipline among offenders.
• Assists in conducting staff training and adheres to procedures; may require a medical exam and valid vehicle operator’s license.
