Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an assistant/relief shift supervisor to support operations in a correctional facility or related center. The role supervises officers, conducts rounds, and helps manage offender behavior in accordance with established policies.

Minimum qualifications include three years of custody experience and at least one year as a supervisory assistant, with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult offenders in a correctional setting.
• At least one year as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers; monitors performance and work habits.
• Directs major activities such as control center operation or reception/orientation.
• Patrols living quarters, posts and grounds to ensure officers are on duty and attentive.
• Investigates disturbances and ensures discipline among offenders.
• Assists in training staff and adheres to regulations; may require a medical exam and a valid driver’s license.
