Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services seeks a supervisor on shift for Raymond Laborde Correctional Center in Cottonport, LA. Qualifications

• Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.

The incumbent of this position will serve as a supervisor on shift in a dormitory, housing unit, or on the compound at Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC) which is a Class 2 facility and has an operational capacity of 1,808 adult male offenders of minimum, medium and maximum custody.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR


• One year of experience in any field; OR


• Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.

Necessary Special Requirements

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current driver's license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Employee will work with Inmates and Security Staff.


• Employee will work for Corrections Captain.


• Employee will supervise Master Sergeants, Sergeants, and Cadet.

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type: DETAIL OF A permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

• An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if a position becomes available.

Compensation

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $26.79 per hour.

There is ‘Premium Pay’ for this position: A rate between .50 an hour and $1.00 an hour for each hour worked based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.
