Job summary

State of Hawaiʻi seeks a fully competent professional librarian to serve at the Maui Community Correctional Center. You will perform the full range of professional library services, including cataloging and materials classification, within a correctional facility.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, 1.5 years of professional librarianship experience, and a MLS degree or enrollment in the last semester. Employment may require drug screening and a background check.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
• One and one-half years of progressively responsible professional librarian experience.
• Master's degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Applicants may be in the last semester and meet requirements upon graduation.
• Substitutions described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements apply.
• All applicants may be subject to drug screening and intensive background checks.
• PREA requirements apply for positions with inmate contact.

Responsibilities

• Provide the full range of professional librarian services within the facility.
• Catalog and classify materials and address cataloging problems.
• Support collection development, reference, and readers' advisory services.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education
