Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Food Service Worker to supervise inmates in a kitchen at Oakland County Jail, ensuring meals align with production plans and safety standards. You will train workers, assign tasks, and oversee sanitation and security compliance in a correctional environment.

The role requires lifting and standing, background check, and the ability to obtain a food safety certification. Competitive hourly pay starts at $20+ with great benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 1+ year food prep or related work preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience interacting with inmates a plus.
• Motivate and supervise inmates to ensure quality and quantity of food production in a correctional setting.
• Able to obtain a food safety certification.
• Able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Good judgment and tact in all situations.
• Follow basic safety procedures and policies.
• Qualified for security clearance in a correctional facility.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and maintain production guidelines per Aramark standards; review logs.
• Supervise inmates in food prep and tray assembly.
• Ensure timely, efficient meal service and compliance with Aramark guidelines.
• Participate in meal preparation and serving.
• Print and distribute recipes.
• Direct inmates in using Aramark recipes and train on cooking procedures.
• Ensure proper portions and dietary requirements.
• Obtain daily population counts and review with staff.
• Enforce security policies; ensure storage areas are locked.
• Return kitchen tools/equipment to secure areas; secure keys.
• Set work and sanitation schedules; ensure adherence by staff.
• Assist inventory, proper receiving and storage of food items; requisition as needed.
• Participate in 5 P's for production, storage, and assembly.
• Follow HACCP standards for handling and storage.
