Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to applicants who are juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Responsibilities

• Intern will work in business casual attire completing duties in a variety of areas and custody levels within the Correctional Facility.
• Work beside trained Correctional Professionals inside the facility.
• Duties include supervising offenders during meals, recreation, cell hall, work assignments, release planning, parole board preparation, disciplinary court, offender services, and evidence-based programming.
• Enforce policies and procedures to maintain current industry correctional practices.
