Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections at Cambridge Springs is seeking a Corrections Maintenance Foreman to lead inmate work crews, supervise maintenance tasks, and ensure safe, orderly facility upkeep.

You will plan daily schedules, instruct on machinery and trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical and welding, and manage materials and tool inventories. The role offers full-time hours, a daytime schedule, and eligibility for state retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must pass a background investigation and CJIS compliance.
• Veterans’ preference applies where eligible.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inmate work crews performing lawn care, snow removal, janitorial tasks and routine maintenance work.
• Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Provide instruction in operation and maintenance of machinery and vehicles while maintaining order and discipline.
• Perform or assist with semi-skilled and skilled work in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and welding.
• Issue materials and tools, maintain inventories, and search inmates and work areas to ensure accountability.
• Identify needed supplies and submit purchase requests for materials and tools required for assignments.
