THE POSITION

Are you driven to teach, mentor, and apply your knowledge of electronics as a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor with the Department of Corrections? This position allows you to blend vocational instruction with real trade work that keeps essential systems operating. You will help students grow while completing tasks that support safety and facility operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on teaching inmates the electronics trade while performing repair, maintenance, and installation work on critical facility systems. It blends classroom instruction, hands‑on training, and technical trade work to support both learning and daily operations. As a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Trade Instruction: Teach electronics principles, guide hands‑on practice, and maintain classroom discipline
• Work Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, assign schedules, and inspect completed tasks for quality
• System Maintenance: Maintain and repair communication, security, cabling, and surveillance systems
• Tool Management: Issue, track, and secure tools and materials used in training and work assignments
• Contractor Coordination: Escort contractors, assist with technical needs, and verify proper system operation
• Record Keeping: Maintain documentation for training progress, inventories, repairs, wages, and attendance

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of experience in the testing and repair of electronic equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
