Job summary

Williams County is seeking a Corrections Deputy to help maintain safety and security at the Williams County Correctional Center. The role involves supervising inmates, enforcing regulations, and coordinating with staff to prevent incidents.

Responsibilities include facility inspections, inmate classification and booking procedures, medication administration, and maintaining accurate records while upholding confidentiality and chain-of-command lines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of satisfactory work experience or equivalent.
• Valid North Dakota Driver's License or equivalent.
• Pass a thorough background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
• Corrections Officer basic course to be completed within 1 year of hire.
• Ability to work in uniform during weekdays, weekends, and holidays on any shift.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and security of staff and inmates in the correctional facility.
• Supervise inmate activities and maintain discipline; prevent disturbances.
• Inspect jail areas for safety, sanitation and contraband; conduct searches.
• Monitor inmate behavior and apply use-of-force continuum as needed.
• Administer medications and coordinate medical appointments for inmates.
• Process bookings and inmate property; maintain logs and records.
• Answer phones and assist other Sheriff’s Office staff and agencies.
