Job summary

CoreCivic seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual care in an institutional, secure setting. You will coordinate religious services and pastoral counseling for inmates and staff, fostering a compassionate environment while upholding facility standards.

The Chaplain leads worship, supports crisis response, conducts rounds across housing units, and supervises volunteers, ensuring sensitive, confidential care for all in the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religion.
• Three years of full-time pastoral experience.
• Eligibility for denominational endorsement or equivalent certification.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
• Must obtain one unit of CPE within 18 months of hire if not currently held.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to inmates/residents and staff as needed or requested. Plan, facilitate or conduct various religious services and programs.
• Provide direction and oversight regarding emergencies and/or crisis messages, ensuring reports are accurate, verified, and documented; arrange emergency calls or visits.
• Make rounds of all housing units, medical housing, or other facility areas on a regular basis.
• Coordinate and manage recruitment, oversight, training, and scheduling of volunteers providing services within the facility.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Divinity/Theology/Religion

Master’s Degree in Divinity/Theology/Biblical Studies or related field
