Job summary

State of Missouri seeks candidates for a corrections classification role within the Missouri Department of Corrections. The position involves evaluating offender adjustment, securing information, preparing program eligibility analyses, and handling grievances.

The role also includes facilitating programs, coordinating with law enforcement, and ensuring policy adherence. This is a full-time, on-site role offering growth within the department and opportunities for internal advancement.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• OR Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year

Responsibilities

• Serves on a classification team; evaluates off ender’s institutional adjustment attitude toward society and release plans; prepares and makes recommendations.
• Secures and verifies information from incarcerated adults; maintains classification files
• Assesses classification status and prepares analysis for program eligibility determinations using AICS, RCA, and ICA
• Acts as grievance officer; processes IRRs; holds disciplinary hearings; participates in treatment team meetings
• Processes offenders: initial file review, protective custody, enemy waivers, enemy lists
• Manages offender concerns including laundry, property, mail, censorship, and critical illness notifications
• Facilitates offender programs; evaluates visiting applications and conducts pre-release counseling; identifies community resources
• Cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement; coordinates calls to attorneys and agencies
• Performs duties with adherence to rules and regulations; follows instructions and may perform related tasks
