THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED BY DETAIL OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF LA DPS&C – CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of supervisory experience in a correctional or penal institution plus one of the following:

  • Six years of full-time experience in any field, or
  • A bachelor's degree, or
  • A master's degree plus three years supervisory experience, or
  • A doctorate plus two years supervisory experience.
Special Requirements

Applicants convicted of domestic violence or felonies, or under indictment for felonies, will be disqualified until relief is granted. Also, any engagement in sexual abuse or activity as defined by PREA will disqualify an applicant.

To administer medical, treatment, administrative, or security programs of a large, complex adult correctional facility.

Job Distinctions

Differs from Corrections Assistant Warden 2 or 4 by independent responsibility for an assigned program area. It differs from Correction Deputy Warden 3, 4, or 5 by lack of overall responsibility as second in command.

Sample Duties
  • Evaluate policies and programs for improvements.
  • Review incident reports and offender records.
  • Conduct staff meetings and respond to facility incidents.
  • Prepare reports, testify in court, assist in budget preparation.
  • Supervise offender discipline, classification, and organizations.
  • Perform special projects and serve as weekend duty warden on a rotating schedule.
