Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Oshkosh is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive preventive and primary care to incarcerated adults. You will educate inmates to promote wellness and intervene in acute and chronic illness, operating independently and collaborating with the Health Services Unit.

The role emphasizes planning and evaluating care protocols across the continuum, from prevention to complex medical and psychiatric conditions, in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain an active and unrestricted APRN license, with eligibility for prescriptive authority, in Wisconsin or a compact state.
• Valid personal DEA number is required.
• BLS certification with AED training and ability to perform BLS/first aid.
• Enrolled, or eligible for enrollment, in Wisconsin Medicaid as a provider.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive and primary care to well and ill incarcerated adults.
• Educate Persons in Our Care to promote wellness and prevent health problems.
• Collaborate with all disciplines within the institutional Health Services Unit.
• Participate in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating care programs and protocols.
