Job summary

Anamosa State Penitentiary in Iowa is seeking a Correctional Trades Leader to join the maintenance team. The role leads incarcerated individuals in advanced journey-level work to repair and maintain building systems in a historic facility housing about 1,000 inmates and 300 staff.

Work hours are 6:45am to 2:45pm with weekends and holidays off and the position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to state policies.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time work experience in one or more of the recognized building trades (carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, or concrete).
• HVAC experience preferred for this HVAC trades leader role.
• Ability to lead incarcerated individuals in maintenance tasks and repair activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced journey-level work and supervise incarcerated workers in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
• Ensure safety, quality, and adherence to state policies while performing trade duties.

The Anamosa State Penitentiary is looking for a HVAC trades leader to add to their maintenance team.

This position will perform advanced journey level work and lead incarcerated individuals in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment at a 150-year-old correctional facility that houses approximately 1,000 incarcerated individuals and 300 staff.

In this job you must have four years of full-time work experience in one or more of the following building trades: plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, masonry, or concrete. Preferred experience is to be in HVAC.

Selective 024

024-A Air Conditioning (Heating/Refrigeration) 6 months' experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in one or in a combination of the following: Testing/repairing parts, installing units, communicating to customers repair issues; teaching others how to test, repair, install units, and communicate issues to customers. Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification

1. Four years of full-time work experience in one or more of the recognized building (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing/pipefitting, electrical and masonry) and mechanical/repair (e.g., air conditioning/ heating, auto mechanics, upholstery and welding) trades.
2. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in a recognized building and mechanical trade for each year of the required experience.
3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Furniture Upholsterer, Mason, Maintenance Repairer, Carpenter 1 or 2, Painter 1 or 2, Plumber 1 or 2, or Welder.
