CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation in Imperial County seeks a Correctional Supervising Cook (CF) to oversee food service operations for incarcerated populations. The role supervises staff, ensures safety, and manages food preparation from receipt to service in a correctional facility.
The position is a 12 month Limited Term - Full Time assignment located in Imperial, with in-office telework. New hires start at the minimum of the classification; eligibility for extension or permanency
Food Service is a complex organization within California prisons. Most institutions require 20 to 30 Food Service employees and several hundred incarcerated person workers to feed three meals per day to the incarcerated person population while meeting all nutritional values, Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) and Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). In order to maintain an efficient organization, Management will recruit and hire quality personnel, train them to function in a correctional environment, so they may supervise incarcerated person and become effective managers. Under the general direction of the Supervising Correctional Cook, DOC the Correctional Supervising Cook, CF supervises and directs incarcerated person workers in the preparation and service of food for the incarcerated person population. Responsible to receive, store, rotate, prepare and re‑thermalize food in accordance with Food Service/Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point standards. Maintain and ensure food safety and proper use of equipment. Coordinates activities with other Correctional Supervising Cooks. Adhere to uniform compliance at all times.
