Job summary

State of Ohio, Department of Behavioral Health, Marion Correctional Institution, is seeking a Substance Use Counselor (Correctional Program Coordinator). The role focuses on group counseling, treatment planning, and facilitating recovery services within a correctional setting.

The position requires state-credentialed counselors and a willingness to work a Monday–Friday schedule with some evenings. Compensation is hourly with union considerations and training prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Must hold one of the listed state licenses or equivalents for counseling/chemical dependency.
• Background in correctional recovery services is a plus.
• Must pass transcripts and background checks as required by state policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide alcohol and drug group counseling and other services to participants on caseload.
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge planning.
• Engage clients with referrals to MAT, Narcan and community linkage to support recovery.
• Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes of participants in the program.
• Schedule is Monday–Friday with one evening per week and manage two cohorts at a time.
