The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) is seeking a Correctional Sergeant II to supervise subordinate staff within a state prison setting in North Carolina. Description of Work

Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position will provide supervision of subordinate staff. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
• Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
• Accounting for persons, funds, and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.

Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

Necessary Special Qualifications

MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

To be considered for a Correctional Sergeant II position, ALL applicants must :

• Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver's license

The salary grade for this position is NC08 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
