State of North Carolina - Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Sergeant II at Pamlico Correctional Institution, a medium-security facility housing about 750 male offenders. Qualifications

  • High School or GED and 2 years 6 months experience as a Correctional Officer, or 2 years as Correctional Officer II.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line supervision of Correctional Officer IIs in a medium custody facility.
  • Oversee officer activities, schedules, and security coverage; ensure rules are followed.
  • May serve as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and report to a Lieutenant II or Housing Unit Manager.

Positions assign lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post. Employees oversee officeractivities and performance and ensure that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained. Employees arrange workschedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according topolicy. Positions may serve as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC). Positions report directly to a Correctional Lieutenant II and/or CorrectionalHousing Unit Manager.
