Job summary

Merced County in California is recruiting to establish a current eligible list for both Full time and Extra-Help vacancies in Custodial/Security positions. Extra-Help are not entitled to county benefits and are limited to 25 hours per week, with pay up to 24.07 per hour.

Duties include monitoring inmate movement, maintaining access control, assisting the public, and documenting activities. Requirements include high school graduation and two years of related experience or clerical work with

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from High School.
• Two (2) years of full time security-related experience or clerical work with public contact.

Responsibilities

• Operates computer to track officer movement and inmates/minors assigned to a facility.
• Maintains visitor and inmate/juvenile access control.
• Ensures officer access to secured areas and makes announcements to inmates/juveniles.
• Assists the public with information and procedural details.
• Transmits information between housing units and various departments.
• Records and processes bail and court fees for inmates in custody.
• Prepares reports and other related written material.
• May testify in court on inmate/juvenile matters.
