Job summary

NaphCare is hiring a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) to join our medical team at Black Hawk County Jail in Waterloo, Iowa. In this controlled setting, you will perform physical assessments, administer medications, and respond to emergencies alongside correctional officers and other health professionals.

Qualifications

• Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within Iowa.
• Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required).
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles, safety standards, and infectious disease management.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Ability to interact with diverse patient populations.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments for newly detained individuals.
• Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
• Provide direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
• Respond to medical emergencies and ensure timely transport to facilities.
• Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to correctional facility security protocols.
