NaphCare, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our correctional healthcare team at Polk County Jail. The RN will perform health screenings, administer medications, and respond to emergencies in a secure facility setting.

Qualifications

Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within IA.
Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, safety standards, infection control, and healthcare laws/regulations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule with overtime availability when needed.
Uphold integrity and professional conduct with facility policies.
Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
Providing direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Managing acute and chronic conditions (asthma, hypertension, diabetes).
Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to facilities.
Educating patients on preventative care and healthy lifestyles.
Adhering to correctional security protocols while collaborating with officers and healthcare staff.
Maintaining accurate medical records and reporting information.
